Grades
K-3
The following lessons are for students
in grades K-3. The information in each lesson is tailored to
the specific level of the students. Please allow between 30-45 minutes
for each lesson. Pre and post visit activities are available for
all lessons.
Bite Prevention (grade k-3)
This lesson teaches students how to
meet an unknown dog, techniques to avoid being attacked and what
to do if an attack occurs. Also discusses what to do with sick and
injured wildlife. Educational activity animal may be requested
for this presentation.
Animal Stories (grades K-1)
Short stories centered around the
care and requirements of companion animals and wildlife. Each story
is followed with a discussion, and time is allowed for students
to share personal stories about animals. Educational activity
animal may be requested for this presentation.
What it Takes (grades k-3)
Teaches the importance of animal shelters,
how they operate, and what it takes to adopt an animal from a shelter.
Presentation also covers how to treat animals, and the responsibility
of being a pet owner.
Care and responsibility toward
wildlife and companion animals (grades 1-3)
Talk openly about caring for life.
Discusses the basic needs of animals and what one can assume about
an animal’s behavior by looking at them. May be presented as
an interactive big screen presentation.
Animals in water, on land, and
in homes (grades 2-3)
Provides an understanding of the specific
needs of animals in various environments. Covers issues concerning
animals in three environments and addresses ways humans can help
animals. Can be presented as an interactive big screen presentation.
